Madonna foi a grande vencedora do MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), uma das principais premiações da música nos Estados Unidos, deste ano. Eleita Artista do Ano, a rainha do pop retorna ao evento após 23 anos. Ela levou sete das 13 indicações por “Confessions II”.
A cantora de 68 anos abriu o evento com uma apresentação em que levou a pista de dança ao palco, com partipação de Sabrina Carpenter, com quem cantou “Bring Your Love”, e Charli XCX, do feat. “Danceteria Afterhours”. Entre outros prêmios que levou, estão Melhor Álbum, Melhor Dança (“Confessions II – The Film”) e Melhor Colaboração (“Bring Your Love”).
O evento teve apresentações ao vivo de nomes como Raye, Bruno Mars, Shaboozey e Lisa, integrante do grupo de k-pop Blackpink.
O Nirvana foi homenageado com o principal prêmio do VMA, o Video Vanguard Award, que reconhece artistas pelo seu impacto duradouro na música. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic e Pat Smear —que acendeu um cigarro no palco— receberam a honraria.
Taylor Swift recebeu o novo prêmio de homenagem, o de Melhor Diretor(a) de Videoclipe, dedicado a artistas que dirigem alguns ou todos os próprios clipes. Ela também estreou no evento o clipe de “Patient Zero”, estrelado por Dakota Johnsone Colin Farrell, parte de “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore”.
Swift venceu Videoclipe do Ano, uma das categorias principais, com “The Fate of Ophelia”. Ela se tornou a artista solo mais premiada da história do VMA, com 33 troféus.
George Michael e Dolly Parton também foram homenageados em performances de Raye, Kacey Musgraves e outros artistas.
Anitta concorreu na categoria de Melhor Artista Latino pela parceria com a colombiana Shakira na música “Choka Choka“, mas perdeu para “Nuevayol”, de Bad Bunny.
O retorno do BTS, maior grupo do k-pop, rendeu três troféus: Música do Ano e Melhor K-pop, por “Swim”, e Melhor Grupo.
A cerimônia da 43ª edição foi realizada neste domingo (27), no Peacock Theather, em Los Angeles, com apresentação do rapper Snoop Dogg. Conheça todos os vencedores por categorias a seguir.
